Artwork description

Outside of Time is a limited-edition fine art night photography print by David Manzi, capturing an old cypress tree perched among the rocks at Windy Point in the Santa Catalina Mountains. Overlooking Tucson from above, the tree rises against a deep desert sky, its pale branches lit with quiet drama while the city glows far below.

The image feels ancient, cinematic, and still. Manzi balances the rugged texture of stone and bark with a night-sky palette of indigo, violet, and soft amber, creating a Southwest landscape photograph that feels both grounded and dreamlike. The result is a striking piece for collectors drawn to Arizona landscape photography, night photography, and nature-based artwork with emotional presence.

Outside of Time was exhibited at PhotoPlace Gallery in Middlebury, Vermont, in After Dark: Night, Sky, and Shadow, where it received Honorable Mention.

About the artist

David Manzi is a Tucson-based fine art photographer whose work moves between Southwestern landscapes, black-and-white photography, macro studies, and architectural abstraction. Born in New York’s Catskill region, Manzi relocated to Arizona in 1999, where the Sonoran Desert’s stark forms and textures became a defining influence in his work.

Entirely self-taught, he brings a precise eye to both expansive landscapes and intimate architectural details. His career as an electrical engineer specializing in advanced RF technologies gives his photography a rare balance of technical discipline and creative instinct. In Intersections, that precision is clear: light, shadow, masonry, and circular form become a clean, atmospheric composition.

Manzi’s photographs have been exhibited in galleries across the country, earning recognition among American fine art photographers.

How to Style Outside of Time in Your Space

Outside of Time is ideal for interiors that need a strong focal point without visual noise. Its deep night palette works beautifully with warm woods, stone, leather, linen, matte black accents, and soft neutral walls. In a modern Southwest home, it brings the landscape indoors without feeling rustic or expected. In a minimalist room, the image adds atmosphere, texture, and quiet drama.

Choose a larger size for living rooms, bedrooms, offices, entryways, or collector walls where the sculptural tree and night sky can hold the space. Smaller sizes work well in intimate reading corners, hallway groupings, or layered photography collections. Pair it with desert landscapes, black-and-white photography, architectural abstraction, or organic modern decor.

Collectors drawn to Arizona landscape photography, night sky photography, and limited-edition fine art prints will find this piece especially strong because it combines place, mood, and exhibition recognition in one refined image.
